My Jetta TDi has had a new transmission at 134,000 miles, injector pump replaced and 2 glow plug wiring harnesses (and needs a third). It currently has 220,000 miles and I bought it in 2009 with 116,000 miles. It is a good car but expensive to repair.

When I visited Manila in 1988, this was one of the most common vehicles used as a taxi (along with the Toyota Corona) so the car will be like a cockroach after the apocalypse but it is an automatic and $4k. Too much for what it is.

I don't think so... I had to set the unit to the type of fuel, tank size, engine displacement. I set it up when I first installed it and got lazy with the fill-up thing so I've never let it know when the tank is filled in 3 years.

I agree that it's hard to determine fuel economy. I drive 70 miles each way in my 2001 Jetta TDi. I've installed a "Scangauge II" to monitor engine performance.
