It’s like Ferrari’s sportscar racing efforts after 1965. Nobody remembers that Ferrari was fairly competitive over the next 25 years or so. They just never won Le Mans again so it’s largely thought that Ferrari left with their tail between their legs. People don’t remember 2nd place.
