This is actually a fairly decent idea for a “panic button”, as long as you’re trying to notify someone other than law enforcement (unless 911 texting is enabled where you are).

I hit a puddle driving home from work after a night shift. Windshield was clear, but ice cold still obviously, since the water from the puddle I hit instantly froze as it splashed on the windshield, and obscured my entire view. Fortunately all I hit was a mailbox; it could’ve been much worse.

I’ll throw in my 2 cents on meeting spot. When it came to our equivalent of “regional” and “out-of-town” meeting spots, I looked at our most likely evacuation routes, and chose 2 WalMarts along that route. One is 15 minutes away, the other is 45; allowing for scale of event.
