My parents got me a Commodore 64 at the end of 8th grade, but didn’t realize it wouldn’t save anything. I spent ridiculous amounts of money, for a high school freshman to be, on my own Datasette, and later a Seikosha printer. My friend had a 1541 AND a modem - and his family even had a second phone line to use it with.

I was excited to see a dual cassette boombox at one “Christian Retreat” I went to in a mid 80s summer; I could make copies of all the Commodore cassettes I wanted in their Media Lab! Of course, I had no blank tapes, or ones I wanted to sacrifice. That Cars tape was brand new...

$16k. For 1 owner, clean vehicles under 20k miles that are like living rooms on wheels. But one of those living rooms is great for snow, and the other moves faster than almost all the cars I lusted after in high school.

Well, we did much the same, but at a price point 1/3 of what the article covers. A year ago, we knew we could buy a new Kia Soul. Affordable, reliable, ubiquitous, roomy enough in the back for adults.

At least tell them there’s a “special tool” they should use instead of the screwdriver. Even the lowest of the low, reputation-wise, can supply it...

The real winner is the one who finds a Dodge Dart (the REAL one) with slant 6 for under $4k.

I like the Magnum, and have it’s slightly stuffier relative, the 300C. My big draw was cabin room - I have a relative with a disability who has trouble getting into smaller cars. I sometimes transport clients with disabilities for my job, and it’s easier for many of them also - obviously not wheelchair friendly

C’mon, nobody else was hoping to see this here today?

Looking for a vehicle that will be (mostly) reliable and last for a long time with a bit of wrenching. I’m starting to think...

New intro clip, get it started with today’s show...

Putting a third row in would give people a little more reason to consider it. 7-8 passenger seating in something that’s not a minivan, SUV, or CUV? Doesn’t exist, as far as I know.

Mazda releases “Jalop Edition” Miata -

And they seem to be “at least” as reliable as many supercars with similar performance.

I drive what might be thought of as a traditional American V8 sedan (despite being a mishmosh worthy of the Internationale). Tesla has clearly shown that electric cars car be reliable AND fast. If they can add “affordable“ to that, I would gladly choose Tesla over what I’ve got.

Sorry; Larry Niven reference.

No, that’s just a digging tool.

I bought my ‘05 300C used for less than $15k, with 18k miles last January. It was probably from someone in a local retirement home. The guys at the dealer shake their heads every time I bring it in for the free oil changes; it’s quite clean.

If you have kids that are in car seats, don’t buy a car that you love. Buy a car that you don’t care if it gets destroyed. When your kids are able to verbalize when they have to pee, more than 2 seconds before they do, then think about getting something nicer.
