First of all, he’s a legal resident of California - his vote wasn’t going to swing shit. Second of all, if you believe the system is inherently biased, then you have no reason to support that system, or to hype up a vote you know won’t make any real difference.

I think Japan, like many other places (including the US), suffers from an over-reliance on traditional roles. I do not live in Japan, so I can’t really comment on the specific roles that are enforced, but my impression is that the effects are negative for both men and women, though probably not all in the same ways.

That’s an extremely dangerous thing to find cute. You can’t just fuck around with the meaning of ‘no;’ there is no objectively surefire method of determining whether ‘no’ means ‘I want it, but I’m afraid to say so.’ Forcing them to do it anyway is rape because there is no clear consent. ‘No’ and ‘stop’ need to be seen

Because that’s the trope. They say ‘no,’ but it’s not because they don’t want it - it’s because they’re embarrassed. It’s kind of amazing how much of Hentai/Ecchi is based around this dynamic, actually.

“We should be open to communication with all sorts of people, except for those who have personality disorders.”

Perhaps it’s time for the GOP to fade away, and classify itself as OBSOLETE.

I went 2 years without my psych meds prior to the ACA taking effect, and it’s not an exaggeration to say that I thought about killing myself every day of it. Now I’m on disability, and am covered by Medicaid thanks to Washington not being stupid and taking the Medicaid expansion money.

I do not remember anything about his gimmick being overtly Christian.

What are you doing about it?

He would immediately be gripped by rapacious urges and molest her without thought, and he wouldn’t blame himself because dogs like steaks, or some bullshit like that. That is the moral justification for all these bills: guys can’t help raping girls, and it’s not their fault.

You can’t honestly believe that faculty wages are what’s been driving the rise in tuition.

I don’t know about ‘belong,’ but it would definitely be posted there, and complaining about it would be just as pointless.

Democrats: Because Woodie Guthrie Was Right All Along

I’m jumping into this a little late to have any real relevance (also, it’s hard to have any relevance in a comment debate), but here’s my take:

God and the Devil are two pillars of a system of laws and punishment. God cannot kill the Devil, because without some form of punishment, there is no cause to follow God’s laws. In turn, if there is no Devil-sponsored temptation to make people break those laws, there is no cause to punish.

I think there was definitely an element of a worked ‘exposing the business’ angle, but I also think it’s possible he conflated ‘that killed him’ with ‘he killed him.’ I don’t know that that’s the case for sure, just that it’s a possibility. Just one of many, many fun dynamics involved in this match.

God, this is *exactly* where that team would go.

This could easily be theater. A few prominent Republican Senators complain, they make a show of making superficial changes, then they vote for it and get to say they made it ‘better.’

When you put it that way, I have killed so many rhetorical dogs. I’m the Michael Vick of polticial comments.

I just thought it was a funny way to frame the argument. I don’t really have a dog in the fight otherwise.
