Honestly, I think what you’re suggesting in just getting rid of every single distinction between every single “race” is even worse game design, but that’s a whole other discussion.

But who ever actually said an entire race is evil and meant it to not have exceptions? I mean in real life, when people play, there are always exceptions. I think the first campaign I played one of the players at the table got permission from the DM to play a Gythyanki who had become a paladin for a god of love. Sure,

I see what you’re saying and that’s obviously fine if that’s the game.e you’re running. But there is merit to the idea of “orcs hate all living things and are invading our lands. Who, oh who is going to step up”? Stories have to be able to explore these things. “They are bad” will sometimes have to do - nay, be

Doesn’t make sense to complain about a game not having features you want when there is one you can play that does all of that and more. I don’t expect Pizza Hut to have Burgers or McDonalds to have pork roll for their breakfast sandwiches. I’m not even saying this as a PF booster either.

Because orcs aren’t human? Or even real? Orcs were created by an evil god for evil purposes?

But you may need to say that an entire race is evil so as to allow your players to enter their lair and kill them. If you start giving henchmen family lives, the whole story becomes a moral quagmire and certainly no fun.

we live in the real world, and no fantasy exists in a vacuum, thinking that there are simple, easy compartments for fantasy vs reality where this is absolutely no bleed at all is ridiculous when media is such an important part of our storytelling tradition like, as a species.

Let’s get one thing out of the way, because someone is going to jump down my throat: it is good to identify racial stereotypes *that connect to real life* and change them. Some ideas, like ASI are great. I am not going to comment on women having lower stats (or a Beauty stat)!

The point you’re trying to make is a flawed one. Because many of these races you speak of have nothing to do with the real world, natural selection, and the idea of race as applied to humans in reality. Many of these races like the draconians in Dragonlance are specifically engineered to be ‘evil’, or more simply to

It never has been a problem except for those really seeking to take a pure fantasy .. Ill say again FANTASY game into some sort of tutorial for the real world. Those people specifically should not be allowed to play role playing games as they lack the ability to properly discern between reality and fantasy.

I agree if you are saying “race” but not species. I mean mind flayers eat the brains of sentient creatures for pleasure and sustenance. Can these be anything other than “evil.” And if you then go and say “well they shouldn’t do that, or at least it should be a choice” then aren’t you changing the whole point of a type

I have one thing to say.

Welp, sucks that people are using their skills for stuff like this. He should just have turned her hair red and be done with it.

Kind of incredible in how no subtlety was even attempted. Went out of their way to say “In case you thought about giving us the benefit of the doubt and this racist caricature wasn’t meant to disparage any real world people, let me reassure you that it was.”

Yeah I though, probably just some inappropriate tropes, art, and or other shit. Not based on an early 20th century medical texts section on race.

I legit guffawed in disbelief when I got to that race part. Even when the very title mentioned it was going to be racist, I still did not expect it to be that horrifyingly blatantly racist.

....and they make a great chicken sandwich.  Service is extraordinarily good as well.

fuck Chick-fil-a in all things, but this is basically making up a reason to be angry when there are already plenty out there.

If you find what they said offensive, then the problem is with you. Where do you find Chick-fil-A? Malls, airports, commercial areas, and communities. The good Lord has richly blessed me with three Chick-fil-As within a 2.1 miles of our house.

Yeah that’s a bit of a stretch...
