Psst. I got a secret for ya.

So she has a skincare line thats based in psuedoscience. How is this anything unusual from the 5 billion other products out there?

Celebs, both internet and in general, hawk useless and snake oil products all the time. I don’t get why this time it’s a big deal.

Lol I see no difference between this and GOOP by Gweneth Paltrow. The key difference is that Paltrow has an infinitely bigger audience.

Now playing

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it agin: “Cancel Culture” isn’t real. At best it’s right wing newspeak designed to frame the wealthy and powerful as the real victims and that they should not suffer for consequences for their actions. At worst it’s a grift already famous people pull to drum up attention for their

She should try being a Nazi sympathizer or an anti-vaxxer. Those people never seem to get deplatformed. Probably because they’re not doing anything TRULY evil, like being a woman in a hot tub.

This just gives the consumer more autonomy, right? I mean, clearly there is a desire on the part of the consumer for this product. Maybe CDPR did not feel confident enough in the idea to risk the development cost blind. Now they know the market is there.

Do you think you aren’t paying for development costs when you walk into a store and put something on the shelves in your basket?

Sometimes, a large company doesn’t exactly know the demand for a product. This seems like a way to get actual customer interest as opposed to spending the money first and finding out nobody wants the product.

This isn’t different than what Lego Ideas or Hasbro Labs does. On those platforms, they need a threshold of

“Back the development cost for roughly the cost of the final product, and we’ll send you the final product.”

I don’t really understand what’s wrong with this. Part of any business planning is “how many units of this can we expect to sell?”

Yeah, its basically just a preorder with these guys.

I’d be much more likely to “kickstart” something from a company like CDPR than random nobodies because they’re much less likely to run off with my money.

Excellent, then you can explain why you disagree.

Yep. There’s something really juvenile about people making a corporation their “tribe” and defending it tooth and nail. I like Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft’s gaming services, but this flavour of brand loyalty, to the extent that they can do no wrong, that their shitty behaviour needs backing up and explaining away, it’s lud

The only thing worse than reading about another Nintendo IP takedown on Kotaku is reading all the Nintendo bootlicking comments on another Nintendo IP takedown. I swear, there’s more Nintendo asskissing in the average Kotaku comment section than there was in the average issue of Nintendo Power back in the day.

That’s cool, I didn’t describe Nintendo as exploitative or evil. Just jackasses.

If it was someone creating a reader’s guide for articles from three decades ago then I think most people here would come down in favour of the guide.

Nintendo is a greedy corporation that DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU.

It drives me crazy that people will defend their hostility toward fans. No, that does not mean that they need to give people blank checks with their IPs. It means that they should respect the people that keep the company funded.

Again, stop having admiration

Few hates its fans as much as Nintendo does.
