I’m still digging this show. It’s not the best thing ever, but the humour and emotion really speak to me in a way few things don’t. This may be an unpopular opinion, but it’s really refreshing to have a show tackle mental health in a way that acknowledges just how messy it can be. Is it realistic? God no, but I laugh…
I think each season’s been getting better and better. It’s a show that made no apologies about wearing its heart on its sleeve and I absolutely adored it for that reason. It took Troi’s advice to Data “that emotions aren’t good or bad; it’s what you do with them that counts” and showed how empathy is the absolutely…
There’s a reason the In the Air Tonight sequence remains in the conversation 30+ years later. They don’t even talk, it’s all in their faces.
That sequence is incredible, especially for the time. It was cinematic in a way that TV really hadn’t been until that point.
I was really let down by Public Enemies. Shooting it digitally didn’t help either. I’ll always have that pretty great trailer, though. Love the music they used
The TV pilot did about as good a job at building an emotional connection between characters as you’ll find. Crockett and Tubbs didn’t trust each other AT ALL but before the end ride together to what may be their deaths, stopping only for Crockett to call his soon to be ex-wife in case he never talks to her again. For…
His next film, the dystopian action thriller Elysium, starring Matt Damon, was thinking-man’s science fiction and another win.
Shennanigans. Mando will either be good, or not. It won’t be “less” because Andor was great. Boba Fett wasn’t “less” because Andor was great, it was just shitty.
Well said. I don’t think I agree that they’re a legacy or nostalgia act; I never thought of them that way. They’re decidedly not like the Rolling Stones or even Dylan, replaying the hits over and over again, coasting on their past laurels. Or maybe they do do that; I haven’t been to a concert of theirs in ages.
I understand people’s negative reaction to it and for not giving a chance or just not being into U2, but yeah it is so good
I always figured it was more to differentiate them from the original Nazis, who belonged to different organizations, and had a much a stricter ethos.
“Whenever Mr. Potato Head’s not on screen, Buzz should be asking, ‘Hey, where’s Mr. Potato Head?’”
Taken, not stirred.
It’s amazing how quickly people will jump on something like this. Love and Thunder came out less than a year ago. Taika hasn’t released a movie in 8 months? He’s obviously being shut out of the industry. I mean, he’s got half a dozen upcoming projects listed on IMDB and is currently involved in three different TV…
Weren’t we all saying the same thing circa-Ultron and then eventually pieces came together and it was great? I think there are some rose colored glasses on about how great the MCU used to be that is feeding some of this.
I feel you. My buddy was 44.
Loose blood in your brain is a mother fucker. Happened to me when I was 47. I’m 66 now. Suffice it to say, the only drugs I do now are vodka and weed.
I’ve lost friends both ways- instantaneous and long declines via cancer. If given the choice - and I won’t be - I’ll take the quick version.
I’m 29 days sober for the first time in my adult life, and I’m 44. I recently got in touch with an old friend who I haven’t seen in over a decade and it turns out he has brain damage from all the drinking and drugs he did over the years - a lot of them with me, back in the day. I’m glad I got out before something like…
