i remember at evo a few years ago, the hotel was hosting an elvis convention at the same time. it was really cool talking to older folks in fake pompadours about our separate hobbies in the elevators. nice people.

I really wish gamers would internalize at least this one thing:
Really, you mean those other conferences that fail every year because they forget to bring actual in game footage?
Dude, really? Its been obvious from day one that ALL of Devolver’s conferences are meant to be a huge parody of these kinds of events in general.
For the same reason most actors don’t use their real birthname in their career. It offers a degree of anonymity if they make it big and a lot of times, ESPECIALLY for female streamers, it offers another safety net in that someone can’t just pop their name into public record and find them with minimal effort. It’s for…
This came up on the WAN Show on Linus Tech Tips yesterday and those guys pointed out that not only do the streamers and the people watching them not want to go to Facebook, FB has become toxic to advertisers, as (Linus’ words) “no media-savvy brand wants anything to do with Facebook these days.”
Yikes... another 45 year old dude from Jezebel/TheRoot that has no idea games are (best he remembers is PAC-MAN and the Atari) but still comes to comment his yelling at clouds on Kotaku? Maybe we should indeed split these networks...
I usually don’t like the “This is how the business world works” argument, but it’s fitting here. I can empathize with Mixer streamers because it absolutely sucks getting the rug pulled out from under you, but the job comes with considerable risk due to it requiring substantial dedication to a skill that doesn’t…
Exactly my thought. It’s painfully predictable.
I am a boring-ass East Coast liberal. Politically, I am indistinguishable from someone’s aunt upstate who’s an amateur beekeeper and still has a John Kerry bumper sticker on her minivan. But even I find this movie embarrassing.
How in the hell do you ‘stay neutral’ right now, and not accept that doing so is tacitly supporting everything that BLM is pushing back against?
You’re not “bending the knee” to BLM by saying that you’re for inclusiveness and against racism. This guy couldn’t even muster that.
Empathy
The shit about there aren’t racists in the board game community, the use of the phrase “virtue signaling” which is mostly used by those who are socially convervatives, the whole statement about moral purity, etc.
No. He didn't. He's pretending he just doesn't want to get involved with politics when he's obviously anti-BLM. He has a number of conservative dog whistles in his post but is too much of a coward to admit that's the real reason he won't put out a statement supporting them.
This is why we have chosen not to make an official political statement.
It’s weird how so many people miss how much of gaming of all mediums is tied into community.
Games are about community and inclusion and fun and that piece of shit Lake Leafy is that piece of shit who is having none of that, the irony of a board game company owner.
