I skimmed this article. I don’t have the current mental presence to read it in full. I’m also real drunk. But I wanted to comment as a victim that has had these images resurface years later.

First of all, I didn’t go to the police. They didn’t do shit when I was violently raped, why would they care when my intimate

I think the tv show has brought it into the general public’s awareness. Especially since the new season just started, and there have been recent promos for it. And I’ve also heard that The Handmaid’s Tale was on a few required reading courses in some high schools and college classes.

So....it’s possible?

Was the joke about “her looks” the one comparing her to Aunt Lydia? Because I thought that joke had less to do with her actual appearance and more to do with her terrify persona and how she’s complicit in other women’s oppression.

But, also, Ann Dowd is really pretty? And comparing Sarah’s looks to Ann Dowd should not

I just graduated in December, and I’m relatively certain that’s why I didn’t get the flu this year. I’d gotten it the last two years, and that’s because my wonderful college had a three day policy.....meaning if you miss three days of any class, you automatically failed. So we had to go to class when we were sick and

No, I am not. I’m just a decent person that gives people the benefit of the doubt and doesn’t try to punish people for not meeting my expectations.

You’re not paying them extra money. You should expect to spend 20% on the tip, as a minimum. Anything more than 20% is extra.

Effective at what? What are you trying to accomplish by speaking to a manager? If it’s to punish a bad server, then I think that’s petty. IMO, there are very few instances where speaking to a manager is justified. Same for tipping poorly, honestly.

I’m saying you should tip 20%, the bare minimum, and then go about your day. Why do you feel the need to punish bad servers? Do you complain to managers at grocery stores when the check out lady is rude and slow because you have no other way to punish them for being bad at their jobs?

Yes. And I have to admit that I didn’t consider racist servers and that being a reason not to tip fairly, or at all. But I completely support not doing right by racists, and I’m sorry I didn’t consider that aspect of this.

Or you can tip your server and go about your day like a grown up instead of being petty and shorting them or talking to their manager? Like, getting shitty service isn’t the end of the world, and you don’t need to “remind” servers to be nice to people.

You’re not their boss. And, sure, your boss won’t be happy and could fire you, but your boss can’t refuse to pay you. I don’t get why you think servers deserve to have their wages withheld because they didn’t live up to your subjective standards of service.

Except most servers won’t take you shorting them as a “reminder,” and will just think you’re a cheap asshole. And when I’m having a bad day, I sure as shit am not going to perk up because an entitled asshole refused to properly compensate me for literally serving on them.

Christ, that is an incredibly selfish and shitty attitude. You should expect to pay at least 20% tip when you go out, regardless of whether or not the service meets your personal, subjective standards. And penalizing people by not paying them for their labor is an asshole move.

I fucking love I Love Dick and was furious when they cancelled it. It was so good, and had such good queer representation, and it satisfied the art history nerd within me.

That could easily have been the kitchen’s fault, not the server’s, which is probably what they were hinting at when they said “there are a lot of people here,” in which case you shorted a busy server for a reason that was out of their control.

No. Unless they were exceptionally terrible and a complete asshole, you should always tip at least 20%. I mean, what if the restaurant was busy? What if the server was new? Or if they had a bad day? Or were distracted? What if they made an honest mistake?

It’s not like any other person working any other job gets paid

She’s arguably one of the most famous woman artists, someone still celebrated today for subverting western beauty standards....but, yeah, it’s totally just the two of us that care about how her image is being white-washed.

Yes. It’s her defining feature, and she emphasized it in all of her self portraits.

A criminal could absolutely still get a gun should they no longer be able to legally purchase one. But could a nineteen year old? Someone with gang affiliations, career criminals, cartels....sure. But school shooters are almost always young kids, and if we stopped allowing them to buy guns, there is just no way

I also met my boyfriend on OKC. We’ve been together for almost four years now. But I did have a lot of really terrible dates from OKC before we met.
