And to think that he’s the “handsome” one.

Handsomer, at least.

But there’s a difference between an abused animal and one that was trained to be aggressive. Some people actually abuse their animals and train them to be territorial and mean because having a scary dog is so bad ass /s

That said, a dog like that is rare. Almost all of the dogs taken from Michael Vick’s dog fighting

I think that’s a little too optimistic. There’s plenty of conservative young people. There’s Tomi Lahren and that Milo fuckface and that other silly blond chick that tried to block of refugee ships in Italy. And the millions like them. They browse 4chan’ /pol/ and troll around on reddit. And now they’re targeting

This can pretty easily be prevented with basic care and hygiene, we just need to do as they do in Hawai’i, and make damn sure everyone is aware of this and knows how to protect themselves. They’ve been airing commercials in Hawai’i informing the public about this and how to prevent it, and there are also little signs

It probably didn’t have Orange is the New Black ratings, but I’m sure it did fine. I do believe it was an expensive ass show to make, though.

That said, most of my friends couldn’t get into it. I forced my boyfriend to stick with it so I could have someone to watch with (knowing he’d fall in love just like I did!). I

It’s only sort of a cliffhanger. (Spoilers!)

Again with the ad hominem. So clever.

But, seriously, getting this worked up when someone doesn’t like your fav artist is pretty fucking sad, dude. Just because someone doesn’t share your opinion doesn’t mean they don’t “get it.” You can understand something and still think it’s basic.

Sure, but my point is that this is basically what political cartoonists do. You can call it art (and you wouldn’t be wrong), but that doesn’t make it especially profound or note-worthy.

That’s fair. There is something to be said about the simplicity of the work and how many people it’s been able to reach.

I’m not dismissing him as a graffiti artist. That’s what he is. I’m just trying to articulate why I think he’s over-hyped and unoriginal.

Can’t differentiate between two things that are identical. I do recognize that Banksy’s medium allows him a different, perhaps larger audience. But he is no different than the witty cartoonist in my local paper, and I genuinely don’t understand why this revelation offends you so.

Fair enough. I would argue that Kruger takes far more risks with her work, and was more original in how she presented her statements.

You didn’t answer my question. What is the difference between Banksy and my local editorial cartoonist (other than style and medium)?

Also, I don’t need to major in “point-making” to know an ad hominem when I see one.

I’m not missing the context and the point; that’s the problem. Banksy is making really obvious statements with the work. War = bad. Poverty is sad. How profound! And he’s not doing it in an interesting or original way. I will agree with you that it has been successful in starting a conversation, and I’m not totally

Barbara Kruger.

Your comment makes me sad because there are so many grafitti/street art artists that are way better than Banksy. Their work goes beyond surface-level social commentary, and it’s just better art. Banksy just makes some basic stencils and spray paints them onto walls. Which is fine. That’s his thing. But he doesn’t

As an artist, I resent the insinuation that painters can’t make meaningful statements and impact society/history. But also, Banksy isn’t really doing that. He also isn’t good at spraypainting. He’s good at making stencils.

As someone with an education in fine art and is involved in several community-based art projects, what exactly is the difference between Banksy and the editorial cartoonist in my local newspaper...other than the obvious choice in medium? And, yes, I know who Mr. Brainwash is; we’ve all seen Exit Through the Gift Shop.

I still have a jacket by her I bought years ago as one of those stores, and it’s held up and still looks pretty great on me! So I would happily buy her clothes again.

An artist’s intent is always irrelevant; good intentions mean nothing if what you’re doing is causing harm. That goes for everyone: your intentions don’t mean shit. And that’s an important thing to learn, particularly for artists because they will not always be present to explain their intent to their audience.

And I
