This is clearly an unfaithful board game adaptation, regardless of the mechanics. A real Doom board game would have 1 marine, and everyone else playing demons.

I absolutely adore Skies of Arcadia, but it’s my favourite game that I will never play again. Even turned down from the Dreamcast version, the random encounter rate is unbearable.

I don’t know how it would affect game balance, but I’d have thought the barrier and turrets would draw from the same stockpile, so you could use a charge for either a barrier or a turret.
