Yeah, it’s not just the way the show has drifted further and further not only from being about soccer, but from being an actual ensemble. And one of the regular commenters (I’m so bad with names) has been on point in observing that the writing for Keeley’s character has increasingly reduced her to her sexuality and

My parents were big fans so the Gord’s Gold cassette tape was being played all the time in the car when i was growing up. Lotta good tunes that have stood the test of time as well.

If You Could Read My Mind still remains one of my all time favorite songs.

It is good when this show gets back to sport. Granted, this show is very much rooted in the relationships, but it’s nice to have it tie back into what is in essence the theme of the show, which is sport.

No love for Will dressed as Beard? Him sitting at Beard’s desk reading Beard’s book was my favourite joke of the episode.

If there’s not, let’s make one up: like “Oops-my-baditing”

I think it’s all about making new connections - covering up the tracks with fresh snow as Beard put it. Rebecca literally fell head over heels to meet that flying Dutchman (he said he was military and had flight memorabilia all over the boat), Rebecca needed to make a new connection with someone to wipe Rupert’s

Yes and that has absolutely nothing to do with my criticism. Ted’s task and job is to be a manager of a football team. While I do think there is a great deal to admire in a want to help others. Yet the environment he does that is related to a sport he hasn’t seemed to care that much about.

Giving very short shrift to Jamie here. He had a great role in his storyline - opening up to Roy and deepening the show’s most rewarding friendship, revealing hidden depths and intelligence again, all while still showing flashes of that charming bravado.

A lot of people (including the band) like to shit all over this song. I think it’s a great tune and in their top 40, even if isn’t “mystical” or “deep” or whatever else folks associate with R.E.M. (And I bought every album they put out in real time during the course of their entire career.)  And this Sesame Street

Now playing

What! Only a passing mention for Jimmy James.

Eh, the whole point of a trailer is to establish what’s going on as clearly and obviously as possible. Sure, “Sympathy” is a bit of an obvious “hey it’s 1969 now” needle drop, but point out any other plausible song they could have used which wouldn’t have had some Patrick Willems-type somewhere online complaining

But it’s being played by the grandson of the actor who played the original boulder in Raiders.

I’m really enjoying our current Harrison Ford-aissance, but his sudden ubiquity makes me worry his doctor told him he only has three years to live or something.

“For What It’s Worth” is the needle drop for “The 60's” and “White Rabbit” is the needle drop for “drugs in The 60's”.

Just the line “I wasn’t being ironic, I was being hypocritical” shows enormous intellectual and emotional growth.

I hadn’t thought about that, but it’s certainly in the realm of possibility. The one that I immediately went to was, “Oh god, they’re actually going to put Ted and Rebecca together at the end of the show and she’ll become a ‘mom’ by being Henry’s stepmother.’” I really hope they don’t do that; I like the platonic love

I think last week’s episode and this week’s are two of the best the show has ever done. I loved the brisk pacing in this one, keeping all the various subplots spinning while pushing the story forward. Zava is a great wrench in the works for almost every plot the show has going. This may be the best use we’ve seen of

It’s been a real joy for us, too. It wasn’t immediately apparent in the pilot how funny it was going to be, but by midseason it hit its stride. It embraces a lot of different styles of humor, and I think that means it works for a lot of different kinds of people.
