zu_zu and sarcazzer and Audrey and Jamey: Looks like we're all agreed here. Basically, at best these kids have erected a wall around their emotions in order to avoid the pain of having to admit to themselves that they've done something horrible.

I'm guessing the bullies will have to maintain their 'tough' attitudes for quite some time. If their outer shells were to erode, they'd be facing a whole lot of pain.

I went to a college that has co-ed bathrooms, as do some other institutions. It was no big deal. You get used to it right away. If you are the kind of person who can't, the problem is with you.
