@TheFu: Wow... that sounds really cool. I have not heard of that, definitely worth looking into. My OS/Programs currently sit on a SSD, but I never thought of using a ssd as a short term cache. Very cool idea. I will be googling this later tonight.
@robotsneedhugs2: Thanks robot.. this looks great!
@TheFu: Thanks Fu, I had a feeling there would be no simple answer, too many variables. I guess I will test a few options. I understand that I will lose all data if one disk fails, I currently have backups on an external, and was thinking about using three older disks to make a raid 5 for backup...
I just got a few new drives and am looking to set up a simple raid 0 (2x1tb) for holding mostly large media files (FLAC/.x264/ISOs and vm images), after doing a little research, it seems I should use a larger chunk size ... but there seems to be some mixed opinions on the matter. Anyone have 2 cents on this?
Do many of you actually use any "Widgets"? They look kinda cool I guess, but I haven't really found any that seem to increase productivity or really come in handy. They just seem to increase loading time on start up.
I have a similar issue coming up. I just purchased a few new HDDs and will be moving a large number of media files around to create some new RAID's. I should not have any problem redirecting my foobar2k library to point to the new drive....
I love these things.... I now have a large jet tub, so I no longer use them, but they were great when I lived at my old studio. I'm man enough to admit that I love a real hot bath once in a while. Gotta be hot to the point of making me sweat though.
@kirbypuckett: I recently purchased a trendnet tew-639 from newegg... which outperformed a cisco that was over twice the cost (went from 1-2 bars to 4-5 bars). It was on sale at the time, but I am really impressed with it. I purchased a rosewill rnx-n2x adapter that also works very well. When shopping check the…
I think I am going to give this a try. Alton Brown did an episode about making power bars or granola bars which peaked my interest a while ago. I think I will try this out this weekend. Seems like a fairly healthy desert alternative. Has anyone tried this before?
@theworldisasheep: acid loops, fruity loops, propellerheads reason, automix, visual discomix, traktor
@jmblackmer: Ive been doing this since win 2k... I have a small partition for my OS, another for my programs and few others for different types of media. It makes it much easier to reinstall.
@unf0cused: Thanks for the suggestions so far... I will look into each of them. I have a second question that someone may know the answer to. I recently moved to Arizona (renting) from California. I collect severance pay from a company in California and unemployment from California and have not received any income…
Tax Time... Any recommendations for the best online do-it yourself solution? I prefer to spend the least amount of money to get a direct deposit return (although this may not be an issue if I owe money).
@ohstoopiod1: streaming via shoutcast may be an option. just set it up for local use. I have not used in a long time ... but I am pretty sure you could set it up to work with itunes. I used it with foobar2k in the past.
@chris0089: If you are looking to really customize fb2k visually... I use a plugin called panel stack splitter along with columns ui... I know it is compatible with version 9.6.9 ... not sure about the latest release. This plugin allows you to have full control over the appearance of your fb2k... but it takes a…
@iamnotafish: I always thought that the Safeway brand canned albacore was much better than any of the name brands.
@gamby1337: thought it was dead
