I hate Ernest Cline mostly because, as I put it to my wife: "He's what I could have been if I actually applied myself."

I remember watching that short and thinking "holy shit, who was the Women's Studies major on the writing team?" There was a reference in some other episode to Judy Chicago and The Dinner Party as well.

I saw CT in Atlanta for our first wedding anniversary. It was funny but I mostly remember how utterly flustered I was meeting everyone after the show. Oh my god I made a fool of myself.

Is it the one where they call him THREE FINGERS JOE?

You underestimate the popularity of Walking Tall, which was sort of a proto-redneck Death Wish. Also, Baker was pretty good in Charley Varrick.

oh fuck they showed Shake Hands With Danger?!

I really liked Josh's Servo. Dr. Larry never did much for me, but I actually caught S1 as it aired (that's right bitches Info Club #997, OG as fuck) so I have pretty fond memories of it.

>Their range of references were as broad ad the Beastie Boys, but often even more clever.

I got a Community notification for this?

Huh. Are you limited to one word clues? I haven't watched this edition. "You play Monopoly and Clue and Risk on one of these"

One presumes Fannie Flagg is STILL seeing residuals come in for Fried Green Tomatoes.

THE MATCH GAME IS BACK.

She reminds me of nothing more than JB in his prime. The MJ and Prince comparisons are on point, but that woman is the second coming of James Brown.

Janelle Monae is basically perfect.

My favorite one of these involves Richard Harrison, perhaps best known as Ninja Master Gordon from all those Godfrey Ho "ninjers!" movies.

Holy shit, Harvey Sid Fisher. I was not expecting that to turn up on this feature.

I'm coming back in on this end:

I suppose a bigger question would be "what other action film of 1980 is a bigger deal?" Flash Gordon?

You are on point about the nudity. It's not sexualized, it's just regular ol bodies. It's almost transgressive in its banality. (And how the show has no qualms about body size, age, etc.)

Start with Revenge of the Ninja, with Sho Kosugi. Classic.
