Honestly, the main reason I figure the show didn't come out and say Don wrote the Coke ad is because three of the four people who created it are very much still alive.

oh hey it's time for your weekly installment of JOAN HARRIS, MISANDRIST
Yes, but that would be a conclusive statement on where Don is mentally, rather than the much more intentionally "intriguing" ambiguity we got at the end.
Theon in some kind of Westerosi version of "Death Wish III" sounds amazing, though.
This is pretty much my take - you have a TV show that has been about The Sixties and you end it with the ultimate blandly corporatized vision of The Sixties that The Seventies could hope to whip up.
My dad is about the same age as Pete is supposed to be (a couple years younger) and has *exclusively* referred to him as "Charlie Manson" every time he's come up (which was mostly in high school re: a "The Crow" t-shirt I had and how Eric Draven "looks like Charlie Manson".)
That's EXACTLY the connection. For people of a certain age, "Obsession" *is* Pro Wrestling.
She's working here until she builds enough Reviewer Cred to make the jump to NPR, where she can be with other people with equally amazing names.
Yes, BUT. The show was, is, and will be about America in the 60s. At the dawn of the 70s, what was left of the 60s? A soda commercial. All that hope, all that fear, all that energy… and it's an ad for fizzy sugar water.
Although we DID get a nice nose-tweak at all the Manson rumors. "You can thank Charles Manson for that."
See, I took that as Don actually making some kind of step on his voyage to actual self-awareness. New idea, new start. Synergize Dick Whitman and Don Draper and become the person you're meant to be.
"Ovaltine? A crummy commercial?! Son of a BITCH."
Throwaway nothin'. Joan just hyphenated.
"Sally Was A Punk": this fall on AMC.
Ovaltine?! A crummy commercial?! Son of a bitch!
Yep. Possibly a "you know, just for show" marriage to Sansa…
Yeah, that Mad Men ending was weird, huh?
Because rape obviously motivates her to be a bad ass duh :(
That reaction shot is gonna be GIFed and all over the Internet by breakfast.
Fucking Return to Oz flashbacks.
