IIRC, "Fretless" was supposed to be on a movie soundtrack at some point. Like, the band had promised the director he could use it, then the film fell through and by then it was too late to get it on the album.

I have also heard, anecdotally, that "Shiny Happy People" never went on tour because it would basically require bringing along a string section for that one song.

the best "dark Superman" story I've ever seen was an issue of "Hitman" where the title character meets Superman on a rooftop. Superman has just rescued the crew of the Space Shuttle, but is having misgivings about what happened.

My younger brother once clipped off all his bangs with a pair of kitchen shears in an attempt to replicate Superman's spit-curl.

That also wound up in some of the TV edits of the movie as well (but not all). Somewhere at my parents' house is a taped-from-TV VHS with that sequence in it.

That's a really interesting take on it from a business perspective. I'd be willing to bet that the different sets come with different Scoobys - a running Scooby, a pointing Scooby, a cowering Scooby, for you to swap out as relevant.
