Fascists rise to power with faux populism and othering and then they get their army.

Yup. An embrace of authoritarianism is the single factor uniting his supporters. As a left-libertarian on economic-social chart, Drumpf and his rabid little army of conformists are my worst nightmare.

What differences? I don’t think most fascists have armies; it’s really not a requirement.

And...as I feared in a post yesterday, there were cheers from the crowd as the students were forced to leave a public meeting held on their own campus. I fear for the future of this country.

Fascism is the most accurate word for this. There are some notable differences (he doesn’t have a literal army behind him, yet) but this resembles fascism more closely than it resembles any other political ideology.

Me neither; I’m surprised at how little attention it got. It’s gonna get worse from here. Give Trump another month or two and not only will he be throwing people out of his rallies based solely on race, he’ll be openly bragging about it.
