I guess some research would have to be done to determine how they get their figures. They could be counting everyone who said they were not actively trying to get pregnant, or everyone who didn’t say they were actively trying to get pregnant. In any case, 46% is a lot of unintended pregnancies for an advanced country

What does “per 1000 women” mean? Not every woman is having sex, or having sex with a man. Post-menopausal women are certainly not going to have unwanted pregnancies. What I want to know is how many unintended pregnancies there are out of the total number of pregnancies...

It’s clear that the rate is high for all poor people, as cost and access are issues. As income increases, cost and access should be much less of a factor—but the rate for black women is much higher. That is a mystery...

What this election really needs is more billionaires...

International Family Planning Perspectives — Volume 29, Number 1, March 2003

I distinctly recall both candidates saying they are pro-choice, but it may have been at a town hall (although I was pretty sure it was at a debate). In any case, I’m not defending the choice of questions, just explaining why the moderators may have chosen one set of questions over another set. Your points are valid,

I don’t think it was a jobs issue—he’s saying that holding gun manufacturers liable would effectively put them out of business in this country (and stop imports if liability could affect foreign manufacturers). It’s a great plan if you intend to ban guns altogether, but that’s not possible given the 2nd Amendment

“Don’t forget ‘big Donald’.”

Bernie did mention paid family leave tonight (as in why do European countries have it and we don’t?), and in the past he has advocated for equal pay (I’m sure Hillary agreed). I imagine they aren’t asking about abortion because it’s been asked in previous debates and they both said they are pro choice. At this point,

Reagan will always be whatever the faithful want him to be. The beatification of Reagan is a religious act, not a rational one...

I understand what you are saying, but there are many people who enjoy taking cheap shots at Rand’s work—especially after the 2012 election. I suspect many of them have never read her work, or never tried to read it seriously. “Atlas Shrugged” was the subject of scathing reviews when it came out in 1957: “execrable

In order to be complete, I have to say that the rape scene in “The Fountainhead” is deplorable. It serves no purpose toward the philosophical points made in the book, and may well have been the revelation of a Rand sexual fantasy. It should never have been included in the finished novel, and probably was included only

“Compared to Donald Drumpf” is a pretty low bar, but in any case that’s not what GOP voters want. Gentlemen and statesmen don’t “tell it like it is”—they are part of the lying establishment. A significant segment of our population now believe that vulgarity and crudeness denote sincerity. And breaking the rules of

“...but picture it mostly as college frat boys who are smitten with Ayn Rand.”

He’s the best option for denying Trump the Ohio delegates...

They are in a bind, because in their minds sex ed and distributing condoms would be ‘advocating’ promiscuity. What they really want is virginity until marriage. The problem is that humans are highly motivated to have sex, especially teenagers who either don’t understand the biological aspects of reproduction or are

“And that is what makes this all so entertaining.”

“...but she’s not racist troll who wants to commit war crimes.”

“...he won’t be nearly as conservative as Rubio or Cruz.”
