According the the Portland PD history page, Detectives in the Portland PD became the equivalent to the rank of Sgt effective in 1996, which makes the three of them the same rank.

So if this rank structure remains the same then Nick and Hank, by virtue of being detectives, are basically Sergeants themselves and of equivalent rank with Sgt. Wu. So neither has authority over the other. Such a rank structure makes sense making Wu the patrol supervisor and not necessarily part of Hank and Nick's…
LA uses an interesting rank structure whereby detectives basically supervise themselves. They have three separate detective ranks, Detective I, Detective II and Detective III. II and III are supervisory positions.

I wasn't necessarily responding to just your post, it was a convenient post to highlight after looking into it. I was more or less cautioning the thread about an idea that we all (me included) seemed to be taking for given when we still are unaware of what type of structure Portland actually has. It would be…
No. I was still busy looking at all the cans & ass on campus.
I don't know. Just did a little research (texting officers I know and googling) Some departments do rate this differently according to a few friends on various departments that I just texted about this. Depending on the department, detectives can themselves carry their own ranks. So from my experience in the…
I guess he figured that if he could get enough cash in a short period of time, then he could get out of town before the investigation closed in and retire with a small fortune. Probably not the best idea to commit another murder in the same city. You would think he'd have at least left the Portland city limits and…
See it?! Heck, she seemed way into it when Nick did it at the end of last season. You can see it in her eye everytime Nick comes to talk to her. She totally wants him to choke her again…
I miss Trubel every second she's not around.
It's the eyes. And they're all dark-haired or brunette. I can definitely see the resemblance. Padgett Brewster too.
"Eve (to Meisner): "You're not my supervisor!""
Thank you! More Adalind… PLEASE!
He advised Forbes not to use it himself and to go slow. It appears that Malcolm had been spreading the murders out by months as a way to make it seem like a mysterious disease. Forbes pushing the envelope should have been a sign for Malcolm to just kill him and move on to a smarter buyer who would ask fewer…
Well, Eve did ask for Nick to basically set Renard up for her to get the jump on him so I suspect that she's not going to come out until she has the chance to incapacitate him in some way. She's already assumed that Nick is agreeing to do this however.
Yeah that's what I was thinking too. I did not think Adalind at all because that made no sense in the context of her investigation. Impersonating Renard makes little sense either if it's information that she wants. Rachel would have had much more access, but at the same time require much more information since…
Hey, the times may change but not the motives…
"I'm going to give you super wesen powers,… that you must NEVER use…"
OMG, what happened to Zombie Nick!!!???
He wears that damn thing to bed.
Well he did pull his rank on that wesen who infiltrated the department and was part of the Wesenrein.
