Exactly. I can see how the Wessen Council could conceivably confine him indefinitely but Nick has no such resources and is completely unable to get a conviction. I imagine that, considering that he's now shown a bit of assertiveness to the council, that he might be able to negotiate the terms of Krampus' hand-over.
The show you might have been thinking of is X-Files. They almost never mixed their "monster of the week" with cannon episodes. It's only recently that dramas have started to mix up episodes on a weekly basis mostly so they can pack more story elements into a season and not drop the cannon for weeks at a time.

Good write-up but I do have to censure you on the guess that you made for Gelumcaedus' spelling. You should have at least gotten the suffix -dus bc it was a Roman creature that used the Latin word for Grimm.
