That “imaginary file room” idea is an actual mnemonic technique called a “memory palace” or “method of loci”. Is there some reason it would be important to depict in a movie, more than any other process of remembering something?

Any word on their opinion on Pattinson?
Sometimes a “lack of blowback” is a vote of confidence. Sometimes it’s a sign that people’s expectations are so low, they can’t work up the energy to care anymore.
Seems like, in both cases, most of the stuff folks were consuming wasn’t actually coming into contact with the nasty parts (popcorn got sold off the top; slushie syrup was drawn from the bottom). So actual incidents of food poisoning were probably fairly rare.
Annie was pretty phenomenal. I think she could have pulled it off.
Pretty much the explanation given to Steve Martin in The Jerk when he’s depressed that he sucks at weight guessing. “Ohhhh... It’s a profit deal!”
It ultimately comes down to the physical attraction part. Sharing kinks and quirks is fine, and a clone might make a good buddy to swap porn links with, but that doesn’t necessarily make you attracted to one another.
I did that with a lawn mower once (including a warning that the tank was full) to similar effect. I’ve seen CRTs sit out by the curb for a while these days, though, and I rather liked having a little backstory for where it went, though -- Some guy’s probably coming back from his 7-11 shift and watching ESPN on it even…
I had a huge old 29" CRT TV that I likely would have had to pay to dispose of. Nextdoor let me know that somebody in an adjoining neighborhood about two miles away was looking for a TV because their son was moving back into their basement. So right there it’s done me more good than all other forms of social media have,…
So, Frequency for the smart phone age?
I’ve been playing RPGs since around 1975-76 when I was in 7th grade. I wasn’t much interested in the “inside baseball” stuff for much of that time, but certainly in the early “white box” days when Arneson’s name was on the books, his importance was known, though gamers might have asked “how come he doesn’t write more…
That they’ve persisted even as the channel has largely become video-free is the most amusing part. It’s like the Motion Picture Academy running a separate Oscar ceremony for movie musicals, when one only even gets made every couple years.
Is there any sort of “shuffle” mode available on YouTube? That would pretty well replicate the heyday of MTV, absent the veejays — of course, it would have to allow some sort of topical filtering, but you’d have the option to intermix your music with ASMR videos and “Will It Blend?”.
That seems like a pretty obvious embellishment for a movie like Citizen Kane — it wouldn’t have much thematic resonance for Kane to be investing a fortune promoting someone with actual talent. I’m not sure there needs to be an actual “inspiration” for the Alexander character. She’s just Hearst’s real-life mistress…
Enlightening note about Don Quixote. I might assert, though, that the humor of misunderstanding in the Animal House case is not just in “getting it wrong”, but the fact that the guy “getting it wrong” was standing up in a crisis and leading the group, even while revealing his essential lunk-headedness with his error —…
Saving the President from an asteroid would be a pretty good way to ramp up the stakes in the next one...
Way to encourage the false hopes of those of us with no obsessive fans at all. :(
There’s no reason to think it won’t come back at some point.
“Relatable” series TV never appealed to me, because I never found it relatable. My middle (jr. high) and high school nerd years were spent on media I actually enjoyed, and since I didn’t much care for socializing with peers who didn’t share my interests, I didn’t have much interest in media about socializing.
At 55, I definitely remember them as a workplace thing -- clerks and waitstaff, mostly. To civilians they were an ironic costume accessory at most.
