Maybe, though I remember the words "sit on him" being used very specifically when describing the Coen brothers' interaction with Cage, which tells me he was trying to perform like…well…Nicolas Cage, and they had to shut him down before he started chewing the scenery.

There aren't many people who make me laugh less than Woody Allen, but his movies are pretty OK if he exercises the sense not to star in them.

On the other hand, I quite enjoyed Radio Days, Sweet & Lowdown, and Midnight In Paris, in which Allen restricted himself to narration if he appeared in them at all.

Annie Hall was extremely unfunny and annoying to me. I haven't seen Diggstown. I just can't get into Woody Allen's style of humor. I might get a small chuckle here and there, but most of his jokes fall flat.

Legend has it that the only way the Coen brothers were able to get such a great performance for Raising Arizona was by sitting on Cage and pretty much telling him how to act rather than leaving him to his own devices. Explains a lot.

I can't stand reading or watching anything by Stephen King anymore. The reverence I had for King started to crack after his completely terrible ending to the epic Dark Tower series, and I haven't been able to turn a blind eye to his weaknesses as a writer since then.

You are correct, sir. Woody Allen only makes good movies when he's not in them, DePalma leans hard on camera trickery and violence to make up for his lack of vision, and James Woods was really only ever appropriately cast as the sleazy pimp in Casino.

In contrast to CFAmick's comment, Matt Damon has grown more annoying over the years, while Mark Wahlberg has gained my respect. Watching Wahlberg insult, flip off, and shoot Matt Damon in The Departed was just fucking beautiful.

Thanksgiving is the best!

I just looked it up because I wanted to watch it again and came across an article about how that scene was based on a true-life event, which is not entirely surprising.

Agreed. The screenshot just screams "glitchy."

RIP Jonathon Demme. Who could have taken the set of a film about serial killers and filled it with as much laughter as you?

I never understood why Anne Hathaway gets a bad rap. She may have started off doing fluff, but she's shown herself to be a pretty decent performer.

But people are doing things. They're organizing and planning for the coming years. Go on Meetup.com; you'll find numerous groups that are taking varying degrees of action, but they're all doing something. The marches are a minor thing: big on visibility, but mostly there just to keep energy levels high.

Well, at least it would save the rest of us the trouble…

They'd just deride God as a shill for the liberal media.

I disagree. It may not have any directly tangible results, but it does remind the people who participate that they are not alone, which is important.

What is the appeal of Final Fantasy III (VI)? I tried playing it on an emulator a few years back. The story was rich and layered, but I found it way too easy to bother finishing.

I guess one good thing that came out of it is that people with Celiac are able to find food they can eat more easily than before, but what will happen when people find something else to glom onto?

OH, YEAH! I used to call Thursdays "Imaginary Illness Day" because that was the day Dr. Oz always showed up on Oprah to inform my hypochondriac ex-girlfriend of the newest obscure illness for her to glom onto (hello, gluten intolerance).
