The Michelob print ads always had good looking 20-something business types gathering after work at a bar (you could tell it was 6:30 pm because some of the guys had loosened their ties and rolled up their sleeves). And the women were definitely 1980's-sexy, with perms and shoulder pads (the kinda'

I wish I could remember the film critic that really took issue with Guffman… The reviewer was just OUTRAGED that the targets of the comedy were small town folk and their small town ways. As if the comedy was somehow mean spirited because of the social and cultural standing of the characters.

Hey look at this guy…! He's checking in on the AVclub at work! I thought we all agreed to not do that?

The 8 year-old kids in my neighborhood once authoritatively informed me that Lady Gaga is "definitely a transvestite"… so this will be a historic half-time show!

I'll take the bait…

Yes. And, as a side note, I always find it amazing when people who work in a visual medium are unable to truly visualize their own hair as other people see it.

This might be an overstatement, but as a Colorado resident, the Ramsey case was our 'OJ case / trial', in that it showed exactly how inept and incompetent our local police agencies and investigators could be… It is no distortion to say that a half-assed TV show could do a better job with the evidence than the Boulder

Flight - that god damn movie. (Spoiler) "I HAVE to fly the plane upside down to keep us from crashing (for some unexplained reason, that is never explained)…!"

I didn't watch the trailer but can only assume the protagonists have a million dollar lifestyle that is no way based in economic reality, which seems to be a romcom prerequisite. Another gift from Sex in the City!

The sad part is, I think THIS is the part where he tries to rehabilitate his image.

Here's what you're missing: The anvil was falling from a great height with a 'whistling' sound, a la Saturday morning cartoons, and hit the Coyote on the head.

I have never seen this film nor do I want to… But I find it amazing that someone actually financed this; that someone actually heard the elevator speech about it, and said "Let's do this!"; that someone actually thought the world needed to see into the shit-sandwich as it was STILL being made, and then contemplate

The worst thing about this (well, not really the worst) is that several months from now Lochte is going to appear in an Adam Sandler film (or similar) and play a self-mocking version of himself and the incident in question, and then he'll be on Jimmy Fallon's show and he'll make yet another semi-idiotic non-apology

The children were wrong to laugh at you…

One of the great aspects of 'First Blood' is that its central conflict is between two conservative 'types'. One is the war hero; the other is the law and order cop… I'm sure there are other action movies that have a similar set-up, but I can't think of any!

I wish I could find this interview online: Hart is letting it be known that he is in "the #1 movie in the United States" (he's just sayin'), but "nobody knows who I am!" (ain't that something?)

This is from the time when Ellroy was at his top.

So, what happened with their Twitter campaign? (I guess I missed the train wreck?)

I noticed that, too… Sometimes writers should maybe not be interviewed in-person, but rather have questions emailed to them, and then (with a full day to think and respond, including coffee breaks) they can hit the 'send' button, and their words will be much better received.

Are we to the point where we should just identify every Republican politician as a bigot, or at least, a bigot-enabler?
