The rightwing wingnuts just want you to know that C major (all white keys on the keyboard) is the way the founding fathers wanted music written. (No joke, as sacred and holy music was almost exclusively written in the key of 'C' until the classical period.)

True! I'm not familiar with all of the songs in this list, but when an entire melody, bass-line, etc. modulates up a half-step (or whatever) and the song continues on (chorus and all) and finishes without reverting back to the original 'home key', I'd say its fair to say that - Yes - that is a true key change.

Quick fact check: Wagner has more biographies about him and his life has arguably been sifted through more than any other musician / composer, etc. in history. Believe me, we've gotten the TMZ treatment of him, it's just been delivered in hardback form.

The sad part is at the end of this particular true crime documentary the bad guys will all settle out of court and not admit any wrongdoing… And then, "tah-da" we get to watch happen again in 15 years!

Bully! I say…

I just ignore the grades, as I suppose most everyone else does at this point. Someday the AVclub will get some competition out there in Internet-land, and will then have to reasonably assess shows, but until that day the letter grades are pretty much worthless indicators of quality.

Totally agreed. Also, I'm not sure where these guys go shopping, etc., but I don't think I've EVER heard Where the Streets Have No Name played as background music, nor does it make any sort of regular appearance on the radio stations I listen to… It's almost completely AWOL, so absolutely zero annoyance factor there…

Years from now, I wonder if some Netflix accountant is going to do the ROI on their movie deal with Sandler and - upon seeing the pathetically low return spelled out on his spreadsheet in cold hard numbers - remove his glasses and say: "What an asshole."

I'm the one who cancelled Star Trek!

I can't imagine this as any kind of problem (other than the money) for Thicke; it takes shame to fall from grace, and he has none…

Well, I happened to see some 30-somethings publicly drunk the other weekend and it was - for whatever reasons - very sad and disturbing. (And I say that being much past my 30's.) At a certain point maturity is required…

There's another side to Robbie that perhaps we should explore…

Remember when the pundit class tried to tell us GWB's lack of intelligence made him a real man's man, and that it didn't matter anyway because he would have smart people working for him? That was funny. I was still laughing when he mispronounced Abu Ghraib three different ways during the same press conference! Comic

You ain't kidding… Someone was once trying to convince me that Matt Damon was actually a tall feller, which turned into a beer-bet. Soon enough - thanks to the google machine - we had pictures of him standing next to waifish little actresses and he barely looked over their heads. His 'official' height lists

I thought we were to the point where we could honestly examine the reasons Alien 4 was such a flop - starting with the elephant in the room - the amateurish and derivative script by Whedon. That thing was such a ridiculous and lazy attempt at a story no director good have redeemed it, and after the depressing end to

Yup… Generally I scan this stuff for good tidbits, but this was excellent the whole way through. It's great that Heald doesn't - apparently - change his opinions to fit with conventional wisdom; incredibly interesting to have a different insight into these iconic roles and films.

Let me tell you what this comment section needs - more suburban moms who are driving 'safe' SUVs and are on their way to pick up Chelsea from school, and who are maybe even stopping to get a Frapuccino at Starbucks… Also, maybe we could use a few dads with Phil Collins at the top of their playlist and a hopeful eye

Call me a cynic, but here's what's NOT going to happen:

Agreed. The sound track was utter shit. It was shit all the way through. Shit and shit and shit. Pretty much ruined the movie for me. Did I say it was shit? Utter shit.

I prefer my back issues (1928-1935) of Popular Mechanics… You never know when you'll have an opportunity to talk about the health benefits of tobacco in you 'T-Zone'!
