When I first moved to LA, I interviewed for a hostess job at the Friar’s Club. There’s a room on the top floor that is set up like an old world bar, leather chairs, pools tables, etc. - but the floor is a giant sandbox and no one is allowed to wear shoes. I was told that if I did well on the main floor, I could be

I think she’s dressed as a future part-time instructor at a small for-profit college with no medical or retirement benefits.

Tommy Hilfiger hired the smart fat girl? 😉

Sure, but....it’s not a library or an office. go to one of those, if you need peace & quiet.

Recently there was an article of two bachelor contestants finding love with each other and I thought that would be a good twist on unreal. Still hope that happens.

Oh, that would be a plus is she were younger and British.

I am childless-by-choice and I DO think, compared to the parents out there, I have a VERY carefree life. It’s just easier; I think it’s OK to admit that.

Yepppp... the children know not what they do! Also age 11, I called my friend a whore because I didn’t realise what it meant. I also didn’t understand why she (and my mother, who overheard this) were so shocked. The first time I heard it was on Mean Girls, and I honestly thought it meant ‘spoilsport’ or something.

This entire document - and in fact many of the comments you mention and find acceptable - reduce women to nothing more than their “fuckability.” Women don’t exist to make your boner happy.

“I consider myself to be more respectful to women than the average guy”

I read the whole letter and it’s spot-on. These women are class acts.

I’m just not convinced on their track record for truth.

Hmm, that source.........

Same reason Christian organizations are allowed to teach abstinence-only sex ed programs in government-funded public schools, I guess.

Listen, I fully understand that the opinion that sexism is just “no big deal” is a very popular one, even here on Jezebel.

I just want to say (here in the grays where no one will see it, but whatever). I’m not upset that Dylan won the Nobel because he’s bad, or he’s sexist, or blah blah blah. I upset because he won Murakami’s Nobel. He has a large, brilliant body lf work that’s been translated into dozens of languages and he deserved it.

1- You may not think that sexism is a big deal but plenty of people do. I was taking issue with the fact that you seem to think that people have a problem with Bob Dylan’s gender and race. It’s a strawman argument if there ever was one.

He’s still touring, so I think your worry is misplaced.

I guess that’s what you get when you give a literature award to a musician instead of soemeone involved in literature.
