i'm a dude. i worked as a reporter at a small-town daily newspaper for five years. i left the field because the pay sucked and the hours were long but that had more to do with working for a shitty small-town paper; i loved the work, just not the job.
Twin Peaks had two fairly long arcs (leland palmer and wyndam earle) broken up by a half season or so of meh soap opera.
DS9 was pretty solid in terms of long-form narrative, i always thought.
second only to Clyde on Elementary in the Hall of Animal Supporting Players and Clyde edges him out not because he loves Goatwhore but because he hates T.Swift - ALL.

i'm not disagreeing with this or any of the other suggestions for best-of but i gotta say, Stargate:Universe is preposterously under-rated. that show was legit.

i don't disagree with anything you're saying but i'd like to point out that the "market" aspect of this problem is, largely, self-imposed. by focusing on direct market and specialized stores, comics have effectively marginalized their access to the public.
i can't say i still listen to the whole soundtrack but i'd be lying if i said i don't call up that Shabba Ranks song (Mister Loverman) from time to time.
or Terry Goodkind. if there is a series with a worse drop off in quality from the first book onward, please tell me so i can avoid it.

i have loved Laurence Fishburne ever since watchin Deep Cover with a friend who only checked it out so he could hear the Snoop Dog song on the soundtrack. it's a pretty minor B-movie but it's a fuckin' great one - Fishburne plays an undercover cop who winds up becoming a huge drug kingpin and really does a great job…
