Happy that Jane Mayer was mentioned prominently, the article at Jez forgot to mention her, though she is the co-author of the new report and one of the best investigative reporters ever.

Not to sound suspicious but I was ASSURED that in 2016 similar reports were proof that the “establishment/DNC/Clintonmachine” had stolen the state from Bernie.

Capuano is not a centrist. He was a great and progressive representative for many many years. But his time came and it's nice to see a new face in the seat. But this doesn't fit the narrative of "centrist gets thrown out for progressive." This is "old progressive loses to young progressive."

I want to like Splinter, as I was a big fan of Gawker-proper, but there’s just so many of these kinds of posts. Katherine had a post last night basically telling Twitter to chill out about the Manafort/Cohen news, because while it’s important, the news media was over-hyping it. IT’S A HUGE FUCKIN’ DEAL, MAN.

Honestly, the “only people of unimpeachable moral character are allowed to have any function in public spheres” thing reminds me a lot of how I used to think when I was, oh, twenty or so.

It’s really easy to look at the world as containing only “right” and “wrong” when you’ve never had to weigh ethically difficult

Short answer: Yes, because it’s necessary to look past his past in this moment.

Longer answer: Yes, because allowing perfect to be the enemy of good is what got us Trump in the first place, and continuing to bang on about, “So-and-so did bad stuff before,” when they are ranged against someone who is actively committing

Hillary Clinton ran on the most progressive agenda in the history of the USA... You should try reading actual things, not just the headlines from blogs... I know, I know, it takes effort and effort is harder than playing another game of candy crush.

This is honestly the most naive piece in a growing body of naiveté I’m seeing from you. Criticism of America’s fetishism for its military is certainly warranted but this op-ed is a HUGE deal, for its elevating the danger of silencing critics and to Trump’s base who respect McRaven, and should be reported as such.

yet the owners scoffed at the idea of a celery cap.

You should also tie an onion to your belt.

Some of these comments are exactly as I expected.

It’s “worked in concert”, not “consort”.

It’s amazing how terrible the green and libertarian candidates always are. Cynthia McKinney is almost certianly the best presidential candidate the Greens have ever put forward, and she spent the 2000 election talking about how Gore didn’t really like black people.

Seriously. This “party” keeps nominating idiots and being outraged when people tell them they’re hurting the causes they claim to believe in.

Didn’t take long for Green Party sycophant Splinter (channeled through sentient puff pastry Paul Blest) to show up to “Well, actually...” the situation!

Brace yourself, angry white dudes are coming.

This is gross until we realize that paying poor people to hurt themselves for our entertainment is pretty much what sports is.

Claiming that Sanders in any way received more votes than Clinton or had the primary “stolen” from him is the liberal version of Trumpers screaming “FAKE NEWS.” It’s frankly embarrassing. We all need to be better than this.

Bernie Sanders won more primary votes but somehow (thanks, former Clinton 2008 Presidential Campaign Co-Chair/2016 DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz) Hillary managed to accrue more delegates.

You’re calling Russian interference an “ad campaign”.
