I think that’s precisely why he’s pissed about it going public because it looks like he’s trying to get song ideas from an album that sold like hotcakes.

That’s my non legal expert take to. It seems like it’s extremely rare for media outlets to get into legal trouble for publishing videos, papers or other information they’re given. And for good reason. It would be pretty detrimental to freedom of the press.

I think things might have gone differently had he not chosen to sue TMZ/Warner Bros. instead of the guy who shot and sold the video in the first place. I would think that case, though probably on slightly different and/or additional grounds, would have been easier for Leto to win.

But then, shouldn’t he be suing the person that filmed it and sold it? They would seem to be the one at fault for causing any harm.
