But you’re saying I shouldn’t have done that?

Why is this showing on my feed on 12.20.2016????

Some position in Trumpo cabinet, I mean he is probably jelous that Sly made it.

YAY! Representations of Cuban American culture in English-lnaugage media!

We’ve never met, but Gloria’s been in my head for years - I’m a fan.

I am so watching this.

“kind of a consigliere,”

13 more days, 2016.

So if you make a stupid or selfish decision, it’s too late to be educated? No point? What about the part where she asked Cho what she could do now and Cho had suggestions? No point to that either?

I agree, hindsight and all that. I just don’t understand the point of having the civil conversation and being open and willing to teach as it were and then claiming you were put upon. I don’t think it’s doing us minorities any favors when things like this happen, I find the whole thing to be really ridiculous quite

Informing us you are super enlightened and already totally recognize your own privilege doesn’t help your point in any way, that’s what I’m saying

Margaret could have deleted the email, could have replied with a civil decline of help, a ‘fuck you’, or declined in any other fashion, but she engaged and agreed to keep the conversation private, then publicized it.

Margaret Cho has been super vocal about these issues for years and that included the Doctor Strange movie. Plus, if i recall, the whole thing was arranged by Alex Bornstein, who is a mutual friend between the two.
So it’s not like Tilda Swinton went all “Who should I talk to... Margaret Cho! She ‘s asian! I’ll get her

I’m sick of this shit. Every post in which people mess up a representation is littered with critiques saying, “Why don’t you ask someone? Why don’t you ask for thoughts and opinions?” Now someone’s done it and she’s awful for it. She should just read about it online!

It was perfectly okay for Swinton to politely ask Cho about the matter, just as it would have been perfectly okay—as Swinton said herself—if Cho had not engaged this discussion and simply told Swinton to “fuck off.”

but that is YOUR TAKE on what is going on here. Your cynicism is telling this was her alleviating her white guilt.

Except you’re forgetting that Cho has been an advocate to do just that! You are either being willfully ignorant right now or completely disingenuous. You are right, it’s not an asians person’s job to educate white people. Tilda asked permission to be educated and Cho said sure. Then Cho deliberately misrepresented the

It’s not up to Margaret Cho to alleviate Tilda Swinton’s white guilt.

You know there’s this thing called socializing. It’s where two people interact. It’s quite valuable in a nuanced and complicated world. I recommend you try it sometime instead of looking for all of the answers to social issues on google.
