Thanks, Spete!
Honestly never ever? That’s incredible, but I believe you. You need to hang with a better level of men.
I think that’s the point Access isn’t taking on board.
Even if the comic expressly agrees at the beginning AND the end of the conversation to keep it private? Isn’t that a bit “Trumpian?” (“Why would you believe a promise I made to you? You can’t be that stupid.”)
If you walk away from them “the minute” they start, aren’t you assuming something about the sincerity of the speaker or the direction the conversation might take with your steering it? Or are you prescient?
Actually, I didn’t mean it as an analogy to the Cho/Swinton affair, I was responding to Access’ saying she walks away when “women representing” conversations are started by men.
Sing it, Sister! (or Brother!)
You get all my stars for today. That’s what Access and others are totally missing. Cho completely misrepresented the conversation, which she promised (TWICE) to keep private.
Actually, I didn’t mean to make a parallel to the Cho/Swinton thing - I was responding to your saying you walk away from “women representing” conversations. In your opinion, should men (in good faith) be allowed to start those conversations with women or not? At the moment, you seem to be defending both sides of the…
Not hard to find at all. Google “Margaret Cho Whitewashing -Tilda”
I hear you. I will say the bulk of my experiences with those conversations has been more positive than negative (though a few have left me wondering “Why did I bother?”)
I want to give you all my stars. I believe that at least some people in this discussion think Tilda is playing an Asian in this movie, which would deserve indignation.
Actually, I didn’t mean to draw a parallel to the Cho/Swinton thing. I was referencing Access’s “I walk away” when a man asks for a woman’s perspective on an issue. I did the exact same thing...I asked a “women representing” question, and no one took me to task (though I suppose some might have rolled their eyes and…
A few weeks ago, I sought out some help from the women in the “Saturday Night Social” to ask advice about buying gifts for my “adopted” family for Christmas, including three teen girls.
Margaret, Margaret, Margaret...
Way to set the cause back for the sake of a little self-promotion. Minorities everywhere thank you, Margaret Cho.
Yeah, baby! San Diego in the house!
Is this where I get to brag that I was on the Donny Hathaway train nearly from the start? His self-titled album was the first LP I ever bought. At age 12 in 1972!
