It never occurred to me to subtract it out. My feeling is, calculating 20-25% from the total is easy, and even if the custom was to not tip on alcohol, I’d still take the easy route because my time and energy is worth more than the difference to me.

Does CarMax scale their warranty costs to the overall price of the vehicle, or is it manufacturer specific? It would be interesting to know how many Toyota Corollas they need to sell with warranties to break even on cars like yours.
