Because burners are a big part of what defines Kinja. If I post on Gawker and Jalopnik under a burner and decide to post on Jezebel, I would need to log out and log back in under a different username. That's not how Kinja works, fundamentally.

This would require significant changes, but it seems like the most viable solution.
