Thank you Madeline, I’m now going to spend the rest of my day crafting a perfect late 90s playlist around Bittersweet Symphony. Who cares that I have real work to do, I can do that on Sunday (yay self employment)!

Jesus Christ, this. I don’t like kids much but this isn’t a bar or a casino or some other den of sin a child shouldn’t be in - this is a mode of transportation (sometimes the only one feasible). Anyone in the “no children allowed on airplanes” camp is an arrogant piece of shit.

I was flying a few months ago and a toddler was having an epic meltdown. The mom was doing everything in her power to calm the kid down but it was just one of those things. Instead of shaming her or ranting about his right to fly in silence, the guy in front of her turned around and offered the kid his iPad. It was a

just curious. did your parents keep you locked in a house as a child lest you possibly disturb another human with your childish antics?

This had already made my day, but then I noticed that it’s filed to “go fuck yourselves”...I bow down to your lack of fucks.

i was going to make some jokes and stuff but i can’t. because this was the most spot on fucking shit i have ever read. the white privilege bit? priceless.

So the thing about that is that the person behind you doesn’t get the entire depth of your seat to stow their belongings. There’s usually something that stops them from pushing their luggage completely against your legs so there is usually 4 or 5 inches of seat area that is yours. You can see this here:

Hi, Pediatrician here! (though I’m no Harvey Karp)

Thank you for properly addressing these pricks.

Thank you so fucking much! Seriously!

Can a Torontonian with some time and knowledge fill in a few readers on why this is especially heinous, now and in this city, in terms of rape culture? The ongoing trial of Jian Ghomeshi for assaulting women across Toronto? Maybe a list of missing and murdered aboriginal women that’s being ignored by the government?

I agree with Cher, Pinterest is the worst.
I do a lot of non-standard baking (gf, paleo, low-carb, etc.) and whenever I’m searching for recipes with google pinterest comes up and TRICKS me.
I do not want to look at PICTURES of cookies, I want to look at the recipes, and the majority of the time the recipes are not

Sorry I’m going to be in the minority and say that I agree that it isn’t right for them to interview the child and reject them based on behavior.

I never used one but totally understand why parents do. One of my kids is autistic, so I put him in the cart all the time (in the cart part) because running off would be bad.

Yeah—this kind of thing in the privacy of one's home, or at a club or event is fine—but personally I just wonder what a little boy hanging out at a mall would think if he saw a woman on her knees, on a leash; what perception it would give him of women in general. Scary IMO

Some (some, not all) of these children may be autistic and prone to elopement and what appears to be punitive is actually something else. My ASD child has eloped once & it was a totally frightening experience that I don’t wish on any parent (and no, we don’t use a device like this with our child).

While I think open conversations are an important part of parenting, I think it’s kind of disingenuous to claim a parent can just tell their child that the man walking a woman on a leash around the mall is just “make believe.” Kids generally know that normal adults don’t usually play make believe in public and walk

Walked by a leashed kid playing with an unleashed dog on the sidewalk yesterday. Was filled with silent judgement as I walked by lol.

I went into anaphylaxis with Aleve. Like, my throat started to close. I’m unfortunately allergic to NSAIDS and aspirin, so Tylenol and Midol are the only drugs I can take. Thank Thor I don’t suffer from many aches and pains in general. Typically, my doctor just has to prescribe me a muscle relaxant since I’m allergic

“They do need help. But if the UN cannot protect their human rights, we would prefer these innocent girls be brought to Canada where they can recover and live in peace and freedom as human beings with dignity.”
