No, it would be a terrible time. It would go up to SCOTUS, you’d get a 4-4 ruling, and therefore the 11th circuit’s decision would remain in effect.
The important question is, how often have male cops caught on camera shooting someone without justification gone unprosecuted? I can’t think of any.So I disagree that male police officers continue to be shielded from consequences. I think this situation would have played out the same way if she had been a man.
“But I also find it VERY telling that a white woman and an Asian man are pretty much the biggest examples of cops being thrown to the wolves by other cops.”
Do you have a citation for that?
Sure there is: “don’t be black.”
LovePrayFear was apparently making the point that the REAL victim here was the white female murderer.
Right, she’s not even the first cop in Tulsa to be prosecuted. The idiocy in this thread is frustrating; I mean even if you’ve been in a cave for the past few years and haven’t actually seen the numerous news reports of white male cops convicted of wrongfully killing suspects, shouldn’t you like...I don’t know,…
What’s the option, though? The Constitution says defendants are allowed to confront their accusers.
Every vibe I get off of her, every rumor I’ve seen of her, is that she actually is kind of a terrible person. She seems kind of like an ice queen version of Gwyneth Paltrow, while he seems like a vacant stoner who won’t grow up. Neither one of them sounds like a decent parent.
The best thing to assume in divorce cases when you don’t need the details is both sides are liars and narcissistic drama queens. And that goes double when they’re both actors.
What’s wrong with Terence Crutcher’s photo? He looks relaxed and casual. If you find something menacing about that picture then I think that’s the kind of problem that led to the shooting.
“ut I think that the way she was handled versus how most male officers are treated in the same situation reflects subtle attitudes within police culture that may be related and even contribute to the larger problem at hand”
Don’t forget Sean Groubert!
“ so far the only cops that have actually seen repercussions are an Asian man and a white woman”
I think there are two problems here: (1) it’s inaccurate; see, e.g., Michael Slager, or just google “cop convicted” and you’ll see plenty of white male cops punished; (2) it’s inappropriate right now; this is about how this country treats black men and it’s best not to make it about white women.
Sarcastic. I mean, cooking magazines are basically the physical manifestation of pompous social climbing.
Sock hops, chocolate malteds, Rock n’ Roll LPs, zoot suits -- you know, teen stuff.
“It was purely because of her name and the fact that the editor, William Sitwell, is a crushing social climber and snob”
She could always, you know, end it all by going and getting a real job...
