@Yeah!: The computer I was working on was actually quite solid. All peripherals (printer, scanner, camera) worked great. Even added another NIC without any problems for broadband.

Yep, was working on a windows 95 machine the other day. Was on "period" hardware and OS booted in under 10 seconds which is much faster than my Vista Ultimate X64.
