I don’t mean to “gate-keep” here or anything but if you want to see the genesis of the Nathan Fielder character you have to go back to his appearances on the Canadian news comedy show “This Hour Has 22 Minutes.”

Every single recap has comments that are like “You don’t get that Nathan’s doing a persona” or something like that. Maybe if lots of people are not getting it, that’s the artist’s fault?

So what’s the fucking point?

Perfectly put!

It’s definitely in my top five of high school swimming pools on film.

Aren’t they going to bring Blade back (sans Snipes)? He’ll have stakes, I imagine.

For someone who is so militant about people being accepted and treated fairly, you sure seem to be okay shaming what Kevin Smith looks like

No, but you *would* expect him to believe that no movie is dogshit enough that it shouldn’t be released

Forget the shitty movies, anyone who dresses like Kevin Smith should completely avoid the phrase “bad look” no matter the context.

Nathan as Thomas noticing the HBO cameras in class. Superb.

He was like a young Timothée Chalamet.

So far the options I could see for explaining Mutants:

I think it’s hard to articulate the show’s Jew-ishness because it’s really more of a vibe. Like, it took me as a Jew a long time to recognize that the whole mother-whore complex is very Catholic Thing, even as it is very much not exclusive to Catholicism.

So, the Jewish vibe I get is something kinda along the lines of

Angela is no more real than the second Nathan teaching the second class while real Nathan played Thomas. She’s doing improv as someone in this situation without actually being that person in order to allow Nathan to pretend to be someone figuring out his role.

Clearly so. Though the show has usually had voice over explaining his intent for things like that so it is a little more vague.

The entire genre of reality TV is fundamentally exploitative. This is the grist of the show. Your ethical concerns are profoundly boring.

Picard is much better than Disco.  Especially seasons 1 and 2.

If it makes you feel any better, I was at a small convention with Anthony Stewart Head back in 2007 in Sydney over a couple of days and everyone was on their best behaviour with all of their questions the entire time.

I hate the audience questions at convention Q&As.
