He’s a Michelangelo guy. What do you expect from a party dude?

It transcends its cliched premise with great acting and a nuanced script… probably. I think at this point you’re just supposed to see it.
It was so good that it’s mostly faded from my memory.
Looked great, but the characters are paper thin. Scott doesn’t understand Dick. (The author in case I need to clarify)
I wouldn’t go much past the movie, although there are a few good episode. They lose the thread entirely after that.
Had to look this meme up, and I definitely know it. Never noticed his suit was yellow before. I did notice that he’s rubbing his hands together, though.
Is there a review show on YouTube or something that talks about independent films? It would be great to have someone out there like Anthony Fantano for movies.
I did experience some schadenfreude when they couldn’t make Blade runner a thing again. They both would have worked better as a music video.
Most people have better things to do than finish the remaining seasons of The X-Files.
I think it’s funny that some TV executive saw a show that, through the allegory of a game show, explicitly critiques capitalism, and thought “that would make a great game show!” and now he’s produced it and will make money from it. It’s just such a classic example of irony.
I think Squid Game’s message is a little more than just “a game show where people die is bad.” It was critiquing the whole capitalist structure that incentivizes people to debase themselves to simply survive in the world. Making it a real game show and removing the death part doesn’t divorce it from the message.
You don’t like the boat stuff?
I’m sure it pays quite well, although you definitely get worked pretty hard.
I think it’s something about growing up in a society where you’re constantly bombarded with messages that sex is bad, or at least something you shouldn’t discuss. If you’re the rebellious type, you can start down a path where you try to be sex positive, and this leads to being very open about your sexuality, maybe too…
While I agree that all the leads are funny, I don’t think it really all came together as a funny movie. A joke doesn’t work just because it’s funny. It has to be in the right context to really land. Sure, there was lots of funny improvised stuff, but did it fit into the movie in the right place?
What about Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Darjeeling Limited, Moonrise Kingdom, Isle of Dogs, and Asteroid City?
I saw it there too. I think some of the humour landed a little better in the theatre than it will at home, and i think it helped smooth over some of the more unbelievable stuff in the final stretch. Definitely had a Bernie vibe.
I wouldn’t give you the satisfaction!
Someone said it to me once and I asked them about it.
It’s still rerun all over the place, and it’s on Netflix. It hasn’t exactly disappeared. But you’re assuming people have to actually watch it to be aware if the catchphrases.
