So a couple weeks ago, Nick Denton said "We made a huge wrong turn with the gamification of comments." ([storify.com])

Now if the United States had accidentally played the Borat version of the Kazakh anthem, there would be world-wide outrage and riots in the streets of [insert name here]istan demanding the death of all Americans.

I use them quite often in stores that use them (BestBuy, Lowes, etc).

Hmm. I had not heard of that.

It will be interesting to see how they model the flight characteristics of a Viper.

Ban hammer in 3...2...1.

Dad?

"The Tupolev's wings also included two small retractable canard[s]..."

Definitely. Kittinger's cajones alone would need a pair of cargo parachutes to land safely.

Thank you for the reply - it makes sense.

I know it is just a cartoon illustration, but using an office chair with wheels for that kind of exercise might not be the best idea.

So... an unknown programming language. As you will no doubt see by my questions I am not a programmer or have much beyond a basic operational knowledge of systems and networks but;

It's probably a flare gun. Flare guns, by definition, are meant to be handheld.

Oh, very good, sir. Very good indeed.

If I rolled the "overage" amount in to a CD, I would not be able to withdraw the full amount of the value every year, just what was matured. As it is now, I can take the extra $50 per month, have the government hold on to it for me and then make a good-sized dent in whatever the highest interest rate debt I have at

I view my tax refund as a (no interest, granted) CD that pays out every year.

Not that I would *ever* harm a government document, but US passports have an RFID chip embedded in them.

The cards have embossed numbers on them which can be manually entered in to whatever computer system you would like. The document in question has a human-readable string on it as well. The point being that you have to have the document in your hand to be able to read it, not scan it at a distance, say, when walking

A 10K Gauss machine wiped the RFID tag in several of my documents/cards. At least they don't work when scanned anymore.

...and when the elastic band breaks and all of your cards/whatever spill out?
