@Steven: humanized seems to have been affected by the Lifehacker commenter effect. I had to use google cache to get to the download page (the download was successful, however). Great recommendation though! I am really finding Enso useful!

Just a note, that cheap video cable trick will no longer work with the new "Classic", nano, or Touch/iPhone. You will need the new version of the Apple A/V cable, that connects to the dock port, and reportedly has a special microchip that needs to authenticate with the iPod's firmware. On the bright side, the cable

I got my FTP set up about a month ago, and installed (and signed up with) noip. Free, and I don't have to remember the IP address.

I really like Office 2007. It's the only office I can actually use proficiently.

"shutdown -f" is an incredibly bad idea to use for general shutdowns, because it forces all programs to stop immediately, whether it's doing anything for not. This can lead to severe loss of data and severe data corruption. It will even force parts of windows to quit without finishing anything. I bet after a week

How do you get an interface just like this? Start -> Run -> "shutdown -i"

And I'm WHITE!

I've got such a pitiful webcam that BananaScreen often mistakes my BLACK LEATHER CHAIR for me.

@yachius: The options aren't available in XP Home. But you can still do this with a registry hack.

A trick I heard that seems to work is have everyone close their eyes, and tell them to open their eyes on "3". Hit the shutter button just after you say three. A common reason most people blink in photos is they're standing there with their eyes wide open for a good thirty seconds while waiting for the cameraman to

I use orthodontic wax. It's also good for holding in parts that aren't locked in place until the whole thing is closed up (some toys).

Doesn't work on my verizon phone. All I get is a text message with a web link which of course is unclickable and I'm not subscribed to mobile web anyway.

Something else. Men keep credit cards in their wallets. Men keep wallets in their back pockets. Men fart in the general direction of their back pockets.

@dataguy: I have the exact same problem: with EVERY game. installed games, flash games, nethack, shockwave games... I have to hold down SHIFT to get the arrow keys to work, which is painful when SHIFT is bound to something and unchangeable (like JUMP or GOFAST). I have to press shift first too. However, Left and
