(I’m not sure I’d notice an exotic sports car, but put a brick on wheels from the middle 20th century anywhere within a half mile of me and I’ll scent it out.)

That is ridiculous.
Any screen is too much screen. Give me snick-snick buttons & dials, a solid shift knob to hand, and three pedals to keep me engaged and having fun.
In this case, I reckon the only tool involved is sitting behind the wheel!
I’ve learned a few things in my years of owning cars:
There’s nothing about front-wheel drive that holds you back from having a good time. The only thing that’s stopping front-wheel drive from being fun-wheel drive is your own prejudices, and probably a lack of experience.
Because mass produced electronics may look luxurious, but they are indeed MUCH, MUCH CHEAPER than the correspondent analog devices. They’re cheaper to make, to mount in production and to be replaced in a service intervention (but they’re not cheap for the end user, of course).
Not to mention the backlight causing more glare now that the instrument cluster is just a large screen.
The problem is the huge variation in quality of the electronics used. You are right, some look horrible. The Vette comes to mind, the new Lincoln Continental with it’s display that only fills a portion of the opening, etc.. Then some are perfection like the Audi virtual cockpit. It’s very good. Great contrast and no…
Am I the only one who doesn’t like this shift to “digital gauge clusters” or whatever people are calling them? They look cheap to me. No one things an apple watch is classier than a Breitling or Rolex analog watch. Why are we going this direction?
No. Someone will scream German car something something unreliable.
BMW has been dead to me since they went beyond the 3, 5, 6 and 7 series.
not sure if high or serious. the new sonata's interior is gorgeous. I agree the materials look a little crappy in the pics but i've a feeling they look/feel fine in person. as for the overal design/layout. i dont see whats not to like... looks great to me. great and funcitonal and best ofall.. no random ass floating…
You mean they just sit there like that? That's awful.
Good points, and having them up there beats looking down. I'm fine with the height, I just wish they didn't feel so stuck on.
Easiest solution: move the damn air vents.
