Makes more sense than him mouthing words without speaking. They were discussing this on The Damage Report today. It likely was an attempt to prevent everyone talking at once like the previous night, but it explains why only the high polling candidates were able to cut in. 

Everything they say in these soundbite debates is rehearsed.

She needs to do well not for the nomination, but to peel away moderate support from Biden. 

With so many candidates on stage, probably the best you can hope for. I think it should be on CSPAN, and perhaps not having Chuck Todd or Maddow participate would have been a bonus.

Mayor Pete can take some solace from Williamson.

I’ve seen Yang answer the question as to how to pay for UBI on countless interviews, always very long and detailed answers. Here he crammed all of it into a sentence that barely made sense. He’ll probably shine in a smaller field or a better format.

This is all a big victory for progressives. Both Sanders and Warren are going to benefit from Harris rising. She’s going to be peeling more support away from Biden, as both are establishment. The more likely Harris seems, the more MSM will back her, and that will only really hurt Biden as they were never going to go…

Kind of thing that annoys me about Mayor Pete though. So he owns it, says he couldn’t do his job well in that regard and that he’ll do better... YET, he’s clearly not. He’s running for fucking president. Go be a mayor. 

Also how often she came out against plans. Plans can’t beat Trump!

What is that accent? This was the first time I’d ever heard her talk and it was really messing me up. That other guy the other end, Bennet? Same deal. Sounded like a stroke victim. 

It was a horrible answer, and not one you’d expect from someone who is touted to be a savvy politician. Maybe he was thirty years ago. Harris has a fairly horrible track record on criminal justice that he could have rebutted with, but just went off the rails.

Here’s the thing with Bernie though, on why he has such fervent supporters. We trust him.

His answer was terrible though and extremely short-sighted. He gave her more fuel to burn him with next debate.
