you do realize that much of the internals to all cars (tesla included) are/is manufactured overseas. The volt is assembled in Michigan along with its battery packs. I don't want to let facts get in the way of your argument though.

again... this isn't an offset of state taxes... as the credit comes from the national government. the state taxes can also be deducted as well in ones itemized deductions.

I think it would be nice if the government would put a cap on the MSRP of a car that could qualify for the subsidy. Somehow spotting a millionaire 7500 to purchase a 100k car seems a bit off to me.
