Actually a surprising amount of parts are made in other countries such as Malaysia (Hard Drives), Japan (eg : Capacitors), Korea (Memory) etc and are then simply assembled in China.

Well the retrospective is made by DoCoMo so most of these are very probably phones that were available in Japan. And Nokia was only briefly available in Japan.
