This car would be amazing with a modern literbike or SxS engine that could fit in the same space as the 63 hp lump but provide something more like 180-200 hp.

On top of that, their reliability is atrocious..

Flaresides are a statement vehicle. It says, I don’t need this truck for work, I have it because I like trucks. It is a bit like the two door sports coupes of the 80's and 90's. If you need use-ability, you buy a four door, but since you don’t you buy the two door. No one needs a sports car and they really aren’t
