Plenty of people do 80 mph on those roads at night, I've seen it with my own eyes. Suddenly someone does 100 in a car that's fully capable of handling such speeds safely and he's crucified. I'll let the law deal with that, but he is stupid for making a show out of it.

Modern cars (read BMWs) need around 100ft to come to a stop from 60mph. This is easily improved a simple brake pad upgrade. It may take 300ft to stop when traveling at 120mph. Also the speed limit on the road he traveled is roughly 50mph.
