I have a couple of issues with Kickstarter. Mainly I feel that they're mostly just a pre-order site for future projects rather than a funding site. I think that I'd be less problems if KS just renamed itself "Pre-order Pre-Projects".

Nah, most only like the FIM, and tend to really hate the previous generations (which is a shame, because Firefly's Adventure is like, so fun). I believe much of it has to do with Lauren Faust being on board and in general, it's a fairly good children's show.

While I'm all excited about Mass Effect, I'm even more excited about the development of a non-ME or DA game. New fictional universe makes me giddy, though I wonder what kind of setting it will be. I think you should check out the 3DS. I gotta say that they really put in a lot of effort into the customizing. Plus, they added new adorable animals such as alpaca, yaks, and llamas.
