Another to add to the very long list of reasons not to buy apple products no matter how good they are. Content providers should take a stand and abandon the i ecosystem all at once, deprive every i user of what they want and apple may just have to abandon this horrid scheme.

Thats what i though as well, but if you read the source article it inplys that they recive a unjailbroken phone, jailbreak it and in the process of jailbreaking it install the ssh server, all without ever unlocking the phone (itunes insists on the phone being unlocked before it does anything, jailbreak software is…

And the fact that Apples policies are so restrictive that they make this necessary ensures that i will never buy one of their products.

And the internet kill switch would have been completely useless to stop this because they would not have known to use it.

Would be better if it was a Xoom.

For those who argue "jailbreak it" i have one thing to say, I will not support a company whose products require me to void my warranty and waste my time to use them in the manner is wish.

@Dr.Preston!: the nook's overlay is pretty laggy, i have a 2.2 tablet with essentially the same specs and it is quite snappy.

@vitorgatti: Google has said a non tablet version of 3.0 will be released on phones, possibly a little later than the tablet version. No word on spec requirements yet though.

@drummrx: there OS a simple apk that allows you to install the market and Google apps on this and other archos gen 8 devices without rooting.

@Jstribtpt: For me it was the media capabilities,the interesting throw in features, and the ease of Android market install. You can install the android market on the 70 or 101 in just a few minutes with the gapps4archos v5 apk, after that you can grab just about any market app.
