These guys had 10 good years to save up money and financially prepare themselves. Any good businessperson knows how credit cycles work. If they’re incompetent, they should go bankrupt. That’s what the free market is and that’s how industries stay competitive.

It’s also probably the cost of the entire sedan endeavor as well. Think of all the parts that only make sense if they can get shared among different sedans, platforms and etc.

This.

I do a little bit of uber eats with my beater (old stickshift mazda 3) and it really is only a good deal if you don’t care that much about it. There are only about 15 hours in a week where you can make decent money, the rest is garbage.

Depends on what ‘premium’ means. I have a stick 07 mazda 3 and love it, I love the fact that it’s an economy car with a slightly nicer interior and handling.

We’re assuming in this article that the cost would be attractive. Any product or service is attractive, given the right price. I don’t believe that the right price can be achieved, given how much automation and standardization goes into a production line. There is too much labor involved for something that uses almost

A ship’s wheel is called a helm, and therefore it is not a steering wheel.

Anything VR6 is usually so abused here in Quebec, the tuners go nuts for them. Good on him for keeping it in that shape. I’m sure that a fair share of tuner dudes from les régions have offered him a pretty penny for it.

Musk’s statement that the demand is there if the price is lower can theoretically be applied to any possible purchase... It’s not an argument, it’s economics 101.

I work on an ex ww2 tugboat converted into a tall ship, having served in D-Day. You honestly don’t feel the age of these things if they’re properly maintained.

I’ve met the dudes who work on that boat, being a tall ship sailor myself. They are pretty hardcore, but most of them are Norwegian hippies.

Problem is that the AWD diff will likely stop working and you’ll be stuck with a FWD wagon.

I’m sorry, but I absolutely cannot deal with you little American whinos constantly whining about the cold. Canada sees this stuff every year!! Deal with it! It’s like the world ended for you guys or something. I get that maybe some aren’t used to it and the road clearing firms don’t have equipment for it, but come on

This car seems to offer a ton of ‘niceness’ for its price. Is there any compromise anywhere? Are the premium looks and driving dynamics offered at a compromise somewhere, or from true innovation?

Are quick toyotas like this as reliable as the ‘boring’ ones? I know that the 90s ones were both, but it’s nonetheless puzzling how they can make a car both fast and reliable

Manual mazda 5s are common up here in Quebec. While I wouldn’t say they’re widespread, you find a decent amount of them on used listing sites. It’s not surprising, as manual cars are generally a bit more common in Quebec, and people here seem to love Mazdas.

I had a red 97 850, stickshift and no turbo. Best first car ever. I understand I am biased, but I will forever hate RCR for these criticisms.

The self-righting feature is quite normal amongst rescue boats, as well as the watertight deck and ‘unsinkable’ nature of it. The speed isn’t quite unique either. All said and done, this seems to be a slightly newer and prettier version of the same boats used by coast guard and rescue agencies since the 60s.
